The hind was tired after learning the alphabet in one go. Gracefully she lay down in the shade of a large stand of grass. Now I will be able to read my cousins letters without help, she thought wistfully.

Das Erlernen des Alphabets hatte die Hirschkuh ermüdet. Anmutig faltete sie ihre Beine unter und legte sich in den Schatten des Grases. Jetzt werde ich endlich die Briefe meiner Cousine ohne Hilfe lesen können, dachte sie sehnsüchtig.
